Susan is a graduate of Cornell University and has a master's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. Why do I help people with personal finance? The recession of 2008 was a major setback for hundreds of millions of people, including my family. Seeing this first hand opened my eyes to how interconnected every financial decision is. How do I educate people to make sound financial decisions? A massive misunderstanding is that financial planning is built purely off numbers, and equations. The tendency for advisors and clients is to focus on products, fees, and rates of return, which leads to decisions made in isolated silos. I believe this is not the way one should approach planning.
First, we strive to understand what’s most important to our client, and what they want to accomplish in life; we must define their definition of “wealth”. Once this is understood, my purpose is to guide the client through the planning process and help them navigate the financial world to reach their definition of wealth. As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, I help clients, mediators and attorneys understand the potential long-term impacts of various asset division scenarios. This valuable analysis can be used to protect those with large asset bases or who may not be sophisticated in financial matters and want to create the best possible outcome of the divorce. My practice area of divorce focuses on the Tri-Valley area of the East Bay: Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, San Ramon, and Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda.
Prior to serving as a wealth manager, I was a senior executive in global consulting firms Ernst & Young and Capgemini. Serving demanding clients with tight schedules while providing the highest level of service are hallmarks of my tenure there.
My background in management consulting and changing careers has helped me understand the concerns of people changing jobs. What do they do with their 401(k) and 403(b) plans? How should they invest going forward?
Personally, I am a life-long outdoor enthusiast, and typically spend my weekends working in the yard, cycling or hiking. I have been married since 1986 and a Danville resident since 1987, have two amazing daughters, and a rambunctious Vizsla. Other activities include Past President, Rotary Club of Danville, Leadership San Ramon Valley and 15 years coaching competitive youth soccer. I enjoy reading just about anything, cooking, good wine and spending time with friends and family.

His career began as a part-time technical consultant to one of Oregon’s first CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals, his father Al Jeanfreau. Since that time, Michael has gained significant experience in sales management, marketing, account management, product development, strategic planning, project management, operations, and client relations.
Among the positions he has held are Vice President of Product Development at Marketing One, Director of Sales Support at Transamerica Life Insurance and Annuity Company, Vice President of Product Development for Lincoln Financial Institutions Group, and as a Financial Advisor in the investment divisions of Bank of the West and Wells Fargo Bank. Most recently, Michael has served as the Compliance Officer and Business Development Manager for Cascadia Wealth Management and has helped launch Cascadia Advisory Services, LLC, an SEC registered investment advisor, where he also serves as Managing Director. In these and other roles, Michael has demonstrated success in initiating and implementing major strategic initiatives and is known for creative and profitable approaches to problem solving, conducting skillful negotiations, developing strong teams, and establishing outstanding relationships with employees, vendors and clients.
Michael is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Michael also earned a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University with an emphasis in Finance. Matt lives in Milwaukie with his wife and two boys. He is a Navy Veteran of the Persian Gulf War and former private pilot. His wife, Tami, has been a local teacher for the past two decades. His boys are 11 and 8. His oldest will be starting middle school in the fall. He and the family all enjoy doing things outdoors. All three boys are avid Spartan Obstacle Race (OCR) enthusiasts and like to compete regularly throughout the year. They all love to camp, hike, kayak, swim, ride bikes or just play at the beach.

Natalie Smith brings over 15 years of client service and administrative experience to the Cascadia Wealth Management team. With expertise ranging from customer service to data management systems and computer software, she is easily able to assist in all aspects of CWM office functions. Natalie has a genuine interest in serving and meeting the needs of clients and has a true love for helping others.
Outside of the office you will find Natalie enjoying time with her two children, Jacob and Alana. Together, they like to go to the beach, watch movies and take scenic trips. Her favorite thing is to spend time with her family.
Karen joined the CWM Portland team in 2019. She is excited about her role at CWM and looks forward to growing and challenging herself professionally. She brings a background of customer service and firmly believes that developing strong working relationships with those around her is the best foundation for mutual success.
Karen graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in economics and recently moved back to the Portland area. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest and spending time with her family.

Outside of the office, Courtney enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling and going on walks with her beagle, Gary, who she lets smell almost every tree in sight. You may also find her practicing yoga or reading her latest favorite book.
